Thursday: - Spelling sentences
- Study for Friday’s spelling test
** In addition to the above schedule, your child will also be encouraged to study his/her spelling words (see ideas below) and practice their math facts each night.**

Web Work Wednesdays
On Wednesdays for homework, your child will be able to select one of the following websites in the table to the left to practice reading or writing skills. If you do not have a computer or would like your child to complete an alternate activity, we have listed ideas for homework that do not require the internet.
Spelling Practice: While this is not a homework requirement, we do encourage students to practice their spelling words throughout the week in order to prepare for their Friday spelling test.
Here are some fun ways to practice your spelling words!
Scrabble Writing- Write your spelling words and use the scrabble letters to add up how much each word is worth. Example: way = 4 + 1 + 4 = 9
Chant, Clap, Write- Chant and slap (or stomp) the letters of each spelling word. Then write the word. Do this for all your words.
Practice Test- Ask an adult to say each word while you spell and write them on lined paper. Check your work when you are finished. If you spelled any words incorrectly, write it three times. Have an adult sign your practice test.
Flash Card Sort- Make flashcards and then sort them into columns based on their spelling patterns.
ABC Order- Rewrite your spelling words in alphabetical order.
Definitions- Choose 5 of your words to look up in the dictionary
Color Vowels and Consonants- Rewrite your words. Choose one color for consonants and one color for vowels.
Rainbow Words- Write your words once using colored pencils. Each letter in a word should be a different color.
Picture Dictionary- Show your artistic ability and illustrate each of your spelling words. The illustration should show the meaning.
